Private Fixed Broadband Wireless Networks

Reliable interconnection of branches and remote sites with high-performance wireless technology

Layer 1 Technologies designs and deploys wireless data links for interconnecting remote facilities, branches, or production sites, ensuring reliable and stable communication without the need for wired infrastructure.

Solutions are based on point-to-point and point-to-multipoint technologies, in licensed or licence-free spectrum, and are tailored to each project’s requirements in throughput, distance, and environmental conditions.

Technical Scope

  • Recording of functional and technical requirements (distances, data rates, available spectrum, environmental conditions).
  • Radio-link study and assessment of line-of-sight (LoS/NLoS) using simulation and mapping tools.
  • Proof of Concept installation to confirm performance and link stability before the final rollout.
  • Preparation and management of the EETT licensing file where licensed frequencies are used.
  • Selection and supply of all required equipment and accessories.
  • Antenna installation and alignment, equipment configuration, and performance testing (throughput, latency, RSSI, SNR).
  • Delivery of documentation and reports with measurement results and interconnection parameters.
  • Operations support, remote monitoring, and technical response under SLA.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

When is frequency licensing worth it?

With 6 GHz, 24 GHz, and 60 GHz added to the available licence-free bands, the need for licensing has been significantly reduced. In most cases, modern unlicensed bands cover distances and throughput that used to require a licensed link.

Licensing—although it entails additional time and cost—ensures exclusive spectrum use, guaranteed stability, and no interference, and remains advantageous (or mandatory) in cases of:

  • very long distances (>10–15 km),
  • high availability requirements (99.999%) in critical infrastructures,
  • urban or dense RF environments with heavy congestion, where exclusive spectrum delivers stability and zero interference.

Indicative Applications

  • Wherever other backhaul technologies cannot be used—e.g., dark fiber, MetroEthernet, etc.
  • Islands or mountainous areas, where fiber routing is technically difficult or economically prohibitive.
  • Temporary or mobile sites, such as construction sites, measurement stations, or lifting systems (cranes) in port facilities.
